Our club was founded in 1976 at the site of the now disused Lanark racecourse. After a slight redeployment and a couple of expansions over the years we now enjoy the use of a large ,grassed area, fenced and gated within the site and with wonderful views of the surrounding hills.
We are fortunate in being supported by South Lanarkshire Council, from whom we lease the site, and who do an excellent job in keeping our grass mown and maintaining the fences.
Although set in an area used by other recreational users we have no nearby habitation to worry about and members can enjoy unrestricted access to the site at any time of day.
New members are always welcome and tuition and advice will be given by experienced flyers. The club is affiliated to the Scottish Aeromodellers Association and new members who require insurance can be provided with this as part of their S.A.A. membership by the club secretary.
It has to be stressed that safety is paramount and no one will be allowed to fly at our site without proof of insurance.
So if you are interested in radio controlled model flying and are within striking distance of Lanark why not contact the club secretary or just come along for a visit, you will be sure of a warm welcome.
